Getting your farm certified

From joining the group to selling certified produce.

  1. 1 Join a cluster Register with the cluster covering your district and pay the year's dues.
  2. 2 Accept the constitution Read it and record your acceptance. It sets what the group can ask of you.
  3. 3 Complete the self-assessment Eight sections on how you actually farm. It saves as you go and works offline.
  4. 4 Submit and book A submitted assessment can be booked for inspection. Unsubmitted ones cannot.
  5. 5 Host the panel Three to five inspectors walk the farm with you. Nobody scores their own farm.
  6. 6 Read your score Each area is scored and weighted. Every deduction carries a note and a photograph.
  7. 7 Correct anything conditional Named corrections and a re-check date, usually ninety days.
  8. 8 Receive the certificate A passing score issues one, valid twelve months and resolvable by its number.
  9. 9 List your produce Certified farms can publish to the market from the portal.
Common questions
Do I need to be certified to join?

No. You join first, then declare your practices and host an inspection.

Who inspects my farm?

Trained members from neighbouring farms. Nobody scores their own farm.

How long does a certificate last?

Twelve months, with a re-inspection at least once a year.

What happens if I score below the band?

Between 75% and 89% you are conditional: named corrections and a re-check, usually within ninety days. Below 75% the certificate is suspended and listings come down.

Can a buyer check my certificate?

Anyone can, without an account, using the number printed on it.

Does the assessment work without signal?

Yes. Answers, photographs and GPS pins are held on the device and upload when you reconnect.

Can I sell produce that is not certified?

Not through this market. Listings carry the certification status of the farm behind them.

What if I disagree with a score?

The constitution sets how disputes are raised and decided. Ask an administrator to start it.
